Senior Lighting Operator

Required Skills:

  • 5 + years’ experience as lighting designer and operator
  • Well versed with CAD design tool
  • Grand MA lighting experience and training
  • Fluent in English

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of advanced lighting equipment.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise.
  • Do the Right Thing – Complies with all Company security and safety measures.
  • Reporting all health and safety issues to the HSE Manager, line manager or Project Manager on site.
  • Ensures equipment is secure from theft and/or damage when in use.
  • To support and assist the Head of Lighting with the management and operation of the Lighting Department.
  • To programme the consoles at a professional standard, working in conjunction with professional lighting designers.
  • To keep abreast of all software, firmware and hardware release.
  • To manage the lighting control equipment in all venues, keeping records of faults, repairs and improvements, as required.
  • To manage the lighting control networks, keeping records of all settings and addresses.
  • To share with the department, your knowledge and experience keeping all members of the department abreast of new software releases and operational changes.
  • To undertake the duties of Duty lighting operator for specific productions, projects or events.
  • To undertake the design, construction and testing of electrical equipment, electrical properties and other effects in conjunction with other departments as appropriate.
  • To assist with lighting department get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs.
  • To fit up, install, rig, check and operate production lighting equipment, electrical equipment, and special-effects for rehearsals, performances, projects or events.
  • To ensure that all production lighting, and special effects is rigged, adjusted and operated in accordance with the requirements of productions, events or projects.
  • To attend rehearsals, as required.
  • To check against plans, plots and lists in order to determine the requirements of a production, event or project relating to production lighting, and special effects.
  • To correctly and safely use a wide range of work equipment including access equipment, lifting equipment, and test equipment.
  • To ensure that production cabling is done safely and neatly, providing an overall clean setup for events.
  • To supervise the effective and safe working of other personnel, including skilled and unskilled personnel, who are allocated to assist you with the completion of a specific task or project.
  • To confidently work at height using a variety of different access equipment.
  • To undertake routine in-service inspection and testing of all electrical equipment utilized by the lighting department.
